‘Devour’ is a textured acrylic painting inspired by my fascination with black holes and the idea of destruction, and the beauty that can exist within it.

The painting is built around a dark central form representing a black hole, with surrounding colors and textures being pulled inward and gradually consumed. I wanted the composition to feel like everything was moving towards the center, while still retaining a sense of beauty within the destruction.

I used heavy gel medium together with a fluid painting technique to create the raised textures and movement across the canvas. The combination allowed the paint to flow and interact while still leaving behind thick, physical areas of texture.

Of course, there isn’t a single ‘right’ story on what you should see. Perhaps you see something totally different in this one. That’s part of the beauty of abstract art.

Devour is painted on a 20 × 20 cm canvas and presented in a 23 × 23 cm black and gold floating-effect frame.

If “Devour” resonates with you, the original painting is available through my Etsy.
