Abstract Painting – The Grasping Hand of Anxiety

Quite proud of how this painting turned out. This piece was created when I was feeling anxious and struggling with an endless fight-or-flight response.

In the hopes of countering this effect a little, I decided to translate my feelings into this artwork. Some of the paint is literally thrown at the canvas to capture my stressed state.

The thought behind the image is a hand reaching into a world of color. The hand itself is fading and trying to grasp at anything it can get a hold of. This represents the anxious state where I want to ground myself with any sort of hope I can find.

The final result also reminds me a bit of a scene in nature, where space is displaying its powerful colors as a white gas cloud disrupts the scene.

I used acrylics on canvas for this one.
