Poem – Ambient Tempest

A storm is raging outside,
Heavy clouds block the sun.
I watch the rain hurry down,
Tears in my eyes, as I come undone.

I stare blankly out the window,
While thoughts strike like lightning.
My brain tries to comprehend,
Thundering emotions without end.

The outside now a mirror
To my inner state,
A vision of only grey.
No colours here;
They seem to have faded away.

The intensity of this tempest
Is as scary as my thoughts.
I too, force people away,
A darkness they avoid at all costs.

I face a similar storm,
As the one outside.
I hear thunder
And wonder if it’s from within.

Deafening sounds fill up my mind;
My thoughts are howling
Like the wind.
