Poetry, Music & Stories from an Autistic Creator

From Lyrics to Literature: Crafting My Debut Fantasy Novel

,

It’s been a while since I’ve shared any new music or major updates, and I wanted to take a moment to explain why. Over the past months, my creative focus has shifted into something unexpected but deeply rewarding—a fantasy novel.

I’ve always been drawn to storytelling—whether through lyrics, poems or paintings—and that has now evolved into something even bigger.

I’m currently deep into writing a dark fantasy novel, a story woven with gods, mortals, and cosmic forces beyond understanding. Without revealing too much, it’s a tale of forgotten deities, long-buried vengeance, and the struggle between fate and free will.

To set the tone of the book, why don’t I share a (random) quote:

A single hand extended in a silent plea—mere moments before disappearing into the void.

With nearly 90 000 words written (about 350 pages), I’m approaching the end of the first draft. But writing a book is a long process, and this is only step one.
Next comes the second draft. Here I’ll refine the story, deepen the characters, and make sure it all flows the way I intended.
After that, there will be early (and very patient) alpha readers, more revisions, formatting, and eventually the daunting process of querying (for a publisher).

There’s no guarantee this book will ever see the light of day, but I’m determined to see how far I can take it.
For now, I’m just proud to have shaped a story like this—one that feels mythical, immense and yet still personal. I feel proud to be following in the vast footsteps of my literary heroes (such as Tolkien). Although I wouldn’t dare compare myself to them on any level.
It has been a rewarding process so far, so let’s see what the future brings.

For now, I just wanted to take you on this journey with me. More updates to come.

And, while writing has taken most of my creative focus lately, music is never far behind. There’s something new brewing—no release dates yet, but the spark is there. I’ll share more when the fire is fully ablaze.

Until next time,
James Gale
