Poem – The Passage of Time

Thus, another day has passed,
The sun has set,
And the world is asleep.

Not knowing for sure
If,
and to what,
It will awaken.

The assumption is there
For another day,
But nothing’s ever certain
As nature has her ways.

So people will wake up
And go on with their lives,
Never thinking twice
About the forces that fought
Throughout the night.

To bring on another sunrise,
Another day to grow old.
Thousands have passed,
And many might follow.

Yet a time there was before light,
And a time there will be after,
When all there is, is darkness,
And not a thought to explore.

Tonight, the battle begins anew,
As the world will sleep once more,
Yet no one will think twice,
When in the morning,

There is light outside their door.
